RUN FOR YOUR LIFE

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

haha. i'm obviously not running that much.

i am following a 10k training program, albeit loosely.

yesterday i did day three of plan, with the 2km intervals. but being more ambitious than most (and actually not having checked my schedule myself!) i did 5 x 2km instead of 3 x 2km. It went pretty well. I was supposed to hit close to 4:55 a km and managed to maintain it for the first 2 x 2km but (probably because i went way under 4:55 for the first combined with not having eaten well these last few days) i couldn't hold the pace for the last 3 x 2km. but was never more than 30 seconds off per km.

still wearing in my new shoes it feels like. keep getting sore spots on top of blisters. am currently running in Mizuno Wave Rider 8s fitted with elastic laces. it may be the laces. it may be the shoe. it is definitely disheartening.

i'm trying to up my intake of fruit and vegetable servings and lower my intake of dairy (not hard!) and most grains (bit more difficult), barely is still ok as it balances my doshas and doesn't aggravate the cough I've been fighting for too long and the stuffy sinuses from so much dust in and out of the house (it's that season).

today is a rest day. i feel good, not too sore, and would like to run after the exhilaration of yesterday's workout (thanks for giving me the drive and the coffee J!) but don't mind taking it easy today.

blisters on top of blisters, i definately know what that feels like.

Ok so i bit the bullet. Strolled down to my local Athletes Foot and after trying on a bizillion different pairs of shoes, i found myself snuggly wearing a brand new pair of Addidas shoes.

Donned the shoes 30 mins later and hit the pavement. Wow, these are gr8 i said to myself. I'm running on clouds. My new shoes paired with 50 dollar socks, i was in heaven. 2 k's into the run, hang on my feet are actually hurting. Was it the layoff from running and my precious soft skinned feet or was it the shoes i just purchased.

    Dilema...

Only having run 4k's i decided to call it a day as i needed to get ready to go out. I was quite dissapointed with myself.. only 4k's and blisters the size of a 50cent piece on my arch. Damn it

Ok, i wasn't set to take these bad boys back as i did have 2k's of running pleasure.

So i decided to give them a chance. 1 month until my first triathlon..i'll run them in i thought.

Many training sessions, sprints etc passed and still blisters..

Must be my freakin feet. I love my feet. oh well, life goes on...

The day of the tri, blisters recovered , i'm pumped and the real test was before me. Guess who forgot their socks. um, yes...that would be me.. ouch

blisters galore, but the pain was worth it...i smashed goals and loved it... the pain is just a distant memory

sorry, think i went off on a tangent.

so i can sympathise with you on this one..

i still get blisters and think i always will.. but hey, 'what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.
